An Israeli special-forces operative races to stop a terrorist plot against the US in this novel by “one of the best thriller writers out there” (Library Journal).
After years of being presumed dead, Palestine’s most feared terrorist emerges from hiding with a plan for utter domination of the Middle East the Shaitan Commandment. With a quartet of the region’s deadliest soldiers, he puts into motion a scheme that spells doom for the Western world. His target is not Israel, but Israel’s protector the United States.
On their trail is Alabaster, an Israeli special-forces agent whose true identity is buried under so many layers of deception that not even the Mossad knows who he really is. But every terrorist has heard of him, and knows to be afraid. A ruthless investigator with no time for diplomatic niceties, he may be all that stands between America and oblivion.
The Doomsday Spiral eBook Jon Land
Jon Land has just been added to my short list of favorite authors! The Doomsday Spiral held my interest throughout and "spiraled" nicely to a highly satisfying ending. It starts with four Middle Eastern baddies (and I mean BADDIES) plotting to kill millions of Americans, using a leftover Nazi World War II weapon, the nature of which is not immediately revealed. The terrorists meet at a Providence, Rhode Island hotel and are inadvertently photographed by a student who is working on a school project. So, they kill the young man just for taking pictures in the wrong place at the wrong time. The chief terrorist was supposedly killed years ago by a shadowy, unsanctioned Israeli operative known only as Alabaster. Alabaster is a very interesting hero who cheats death and danger over and over again. He enlists the help of a Rhode Island widow who proves to be a very capable if reluctant heroine. The evil weapon is tested in a small Wyoming town and then the suspenseful adventures really begin. Reviewers on Goodreads noted that the action is somewhat over the top and hard to believe, but I really liked those aspects of this book. The action is nonstop and downright FUN!! I heartily recommend the Doomsday Spiral and put my proverbial money where my mouth is! I just bought and downloaded several other Jon Land books, hoping that he didn't pull back on the literary throttle as he matured as a writer.
